Camera control or gimbal movement is choppy or laggy (focus, iris, etc.)
If your camera or gimbal control isn't smooth via the APC-R, work through the following checks:
- Make sure you're running the latest version of Middle Control, your Blackmagic camera firmware, your ATEM firmware, and ATEM Software Control.
- ATEM Mini users: make sure you are not sending camera control commands twice — i.e., via both the APC-R's Bluetooth chip and the ATEM's HDMI camera control (e.g., ATEM Mini ↔ BMPCC 4K over HDMI, or via a bidirectional SDI/HDMI converter). Receiving duplicate commands causes conflicts and laggy response.
- ATEM Mini users: Bluetooth control via the APC-R is generally much smoother than the ATEM's HDMI camera control protocol.
- If you're controlling the camera via the APC-R's Bluetooth chip, keep the APC-R within 1.5 meters (5 feet) of the camera.
- Try a different router, network switch, or access point — slowdowns on your local network can affect control smoothness.
