Gimbal Control Overview

Welcome to the Gimbal Control section. Here you will find guides and documentation for remotely controlling one or more gimbals with Middle Control software and Middle Things devices, including setup, quick start, and advanced features.

Introduction

The Middle Control software can let you control up to 15 gimbals remotely over IP, repurposing your existing gear into a powerful live production workhorse. You will need the APC-R or APC-R Mini to connect your gimbal to Middle Control and turn it into a PTZ head remotely controlled over the network.

What You Will Need

To start controlling your gimbal, you will need:

Supported GimbalCheck the compatibility section to see if your gimbal is supported.

Supported ComputerCheck system requirements and supported OS on the downloads page.

APC-R or APC-R MiniConnects your gimbal to Middle Control over the network.

Network RouterFor all your IP devices. Almost any router will do — GL.iNet and Ubiquiti are recommended.

Ethernet CablesTo wire your devices to the router.

You can also prepare optional equipment

USB GamepadOptional, but offers a much better experience than mouse control. Most USB Gamepads are supported.

DJI Focus MotorTo control your lens zoom. Use an infinite focus ring sized to your lens zoom barrel.

Prerequisites

Before your start, make sure your DJI Gimbal is activated and up to date within the DJI Ronin app (especially if it is brand new).
