Cookie Policy
Every cookie and similar technology that middlethings.co uses — what, why, how long, and how to opt out.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device when you visit a website. Cookies let the site remember things between visits — your language preference, whether you've already dismissed a banner, or which products you put in a basket. Similar technologies (local storage, pixels, fingerprinting) can serve the same purposes and are treated the same way here.
2. The categories we use
We use cookies in two categories. The first is strictly necessary — without these the site can't function, so they don't require consent. The second is analytics — these only run after you opt in via the consent banner.

The Middle Things online store at store.middlethings.co runs on Shopify and uses its own set of e-commerce cookies (cart, checkout, fraud-prevention). Those are covered by Shopify's privacy notice on that sub-domain.
3. Consent
On your first visit, a banner asks whether you accept the analytics cookies. The choice is stored in mt_consent. You can change your mind at any time:
- By clicking the "Cookie settings" link in the website footer.
- By clearing your browser's cookies for middlethings.co (the banner will re-appear).
Strictly-necessary cookies cannot be refused — without mt_consent we would have to ask you on every page.
4. Browser-side controls
All major browsers let you block or delete cookies. The links below point at the help pages for the most common ones:
Note that disabling all cookies — including strictly-necessary ones — may break parts of the site (the consent banner, for instance, won't be able to remember your choice).
5. Opting out of Google Analytics globally
Beyond declining via our banner, you can install Google's official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to disable analytics on every site you visit.
6. Changes
If we add or remove cookies, we'll update the table above and the "Last updated" date. Material additions (especially anything that requires consent) will be re-prompted via the banner.
