When it comes to live production, MFT mount cameras are getting more and more popular. The sensor size is small enough to cover a
wide range of viewing angles. Besides, focusing is easier than with EF or Full Frame lenses since the depth of field is larger. Here are a few lenses we really love and that we recommend using with a Blackmagic Pocket 4K. We recommend avoiding lenses that have built-in zoom since the optical quality is often very inferior ( and the zooming motor isn’t very good either)

If you are using the RS2 and its DJI Focus Motor, we do recommend you buy custom rings here : https://followfocusgears.com/

1 – Olympus 12-100mm F4.0 Pro

This Olympus 12-100mm F4.0 Pro offers a very nice range in just one lens, while maintaining a real F4.0 aperture. It has built in image stabilization and is already very sharp at F4 and is definitely our favorite lens. It’s worth noting that the barrel will extend when you zoom in and out. But the DJI RS2 holds up very well the center of gravity difference.

2 – Panasonic Lumix Leica 8-18mm F2.8-4.0

The Panasonic Lumix Leica, 8-18mm, F2.8-4.0 is very efficient for wide shots, offering enough choice both for semi wide shots and very wide shots. It’s not very heavy and the aperture values are very good too. It is slightly inferior to the Olympus 7-14mm in terms of image quality (especially wide open) but you can put filters on the Panasonic lens, which is not the case on the Olympus one.

3 – Lumix Leica 50-200 F2.8-4.0

If you need a long range lens, the Lumix Leica 50-200mm will do the job very well. It has built-in IS and pristine image quality. Coupled with the BMPCC 4K you will get great image quality !
