Multi Operator Control

One of the key features of Middle Control Pro is the ability for multiple camera operators to control different gimbals and cameras at the same time.

By default, every connected gamepad works as a master controller. This means:

  • Any gamepad can control the camera currently selected in Middle Control.
  • All connected controllers will move the same camera (the selected Camera ID).
  • Only one camera can be controlled at a time in this default mode.

To improve multi-operator workflow, we added a feature that lets you assign one or more controllers to a specific camera ID. When a controller is set to a Fixed ID, it will always control the same camera—no matter which camera is active in Middle Control.

Currently, this multi-operator feature is only available with USB & Bluetooth gamepads and the Middle Remote, on the Pro version of Middle Control for macOS.

Assigning a Controller to a Fixed Camera ID​

Follow these steps to assign a controller to a Fixed Camera ID:

  1. Open Preferences ➜ Middle Control Pro and turn Multi-Operator Control On.
  2. Connect your USB or Bluetooth controller to your Mac.
  3. In Middle Control, select the controller from the left-hand panel.
  4. Set the Joystick Type to Fixed ID.
  5. Choose the Camera ID you want this controller to control.

Once set, this controller will only control the assigned camera.

You can still control other cameras using additional controllers—either assigned to their own Fixed ID or kept as master controllers.

tip

When set to Fixed ID, a controller can also change its own Fixed ID to control another camera. You just have to map buttons on your controller to camera numbers between 1 to 15.

On the Middle Remote, its CAM buttons do this directly: in Fixed ID mode they switch the remote's own camera without touching the globally selected one, and the remote's Fixed ID assignment stays protected from selections made elsewhere.
