Control Lumix Cameras with ATEM

The Problem​

Panasonic Lumix cameras like the BGH1, BS1H, GH7, and S5 IIX are widely used in studio, streaming, and indie cinema rigs — but Blackmagic ATEM switchers can't natively control them.

The Solution​

With the ATEM Link feature of Middle Control Pro, supported Lumix cameras integrate directly into the ATEM control workflow over wired LAN. Iris, ISO, shutter, white balance, tint, focus, and zoom all sync between Middle Control, the camera, and the ATEM — exactly as if your Lumix were a native ATEM camera.

Supported Cameras​

The following Lumix cameras are supported in the current beta:

  • Panasonic AW-UB10 (updated successor to the Lumix BGH1)
  • Panasonic AW-UB50 (updated successor to the Lumix BS1H)
  • Lumix BGH1 (DC-BGH1)
  • Lumix BS1H (DC-BS1H)
  • Lumix GH5 II (DC-GH5M2) *
  • Lumix GH7 (DC-GH7) *
  • Lumix S5 IIX (DC-S5M2X) *
  • Lumix S1 II (DC-S1M2) *
  • Lumix S1 IIE (DC-S1M2ES) *
  • Lumix S1R II (DC-S1RM2) *

How it works​

  1. Connect your Lumix camera to your local network over Ethernet (using a USB-Ethernet adapter on cameras that need one).
  2. Pair the camera to Middle Control — see the Lumix Cameras setup guide.
  3. Connect Middle Control to your ATEM switcher (Preferences Page).
  4. In the Middle Control sidebar, select your camera and set the Camera Number to match its ATEM input.
  5. Toggle the ATEM Link button on the camera page.

Done. Any change made on ATEM Software Control or your hardware panel is now reflected on the Lumix camera in real time, and any change on the camera flows back into ATEM.

ATEM and Lumix values don't always match exactly

Lumix parameter values aren't always a 1:1 match with the ATEM's. For example, the ATEM may show a 1/100 shutter while the Lumix reports 1/125. If you need exact Lumix values, you can disable ATEM Link on the camera page — but you'll lose ATEM-side control of that camera.
