VISCA PTZ Cameras
Middle Control connects directly to VISCA-over-IP PTZ cameras as a client — PTZOptics heads, Sony SRG / BRC-X PTZ and POV cameras, and generic VISCA models — over wired Ethernet. No APC-R or additional hardware is required.
This is the reverse of the VISCA over IP server, which lets external VISCA controllers drive Middle Control.

Connecting the camera to Middle Control
Connect the camera to the same network as your computer over wired LAN, with VISCA over IP enabled on the camera (UDP port 52381 — most PTZ cameras ship with it on) and an active RTSP stream for Live View.
How to Connect your Camera
- The camera appears automatically in the left sidebar under Scanned — click + to add it. If it doesn't show up, add it manually by IP address.
- Middle Control shows the RTSP path it will use for Live View — confirm it, or edit it to match your camera's stream address.
- PTZOptics cameras: Middle Control asks for the camera's credentials (factory default
admin/admin) to unlock full exposure control. If you skip this, the camera still works with VISCA-only control. - Click the camera in the sidebar and assign a Camera ID.
Controlling your Camera
Drive pan / tilt / zoom from the Motion Page, and exposure and presets from the Camera Page. Middle Control learns each camera's capabilities as it goes — anything a model doesn't support simply greys out. See the compatibility page for details per model.
With Middle Control Pro, VISCA cameras integrate into your ATEM workflow via ATEM Link.
Quick Troubleshooting
- No Live View — check the RTSP path on the camera's detail page matches the stream address in your camera's web interface.
- A control does nothing — the camera likely doesn't implement that VISCA command; Middle Control grays it out once the camera refuses it.
