Lumix Cameras

Middle Control controls recent Panasonic Lumix cameras — GH and S series bodies plus the BGH1 / BS1H box cameras and their AW-UB successors — directly over wired Ethernet. No APC-R or additional hardware is required.

Connecting the camera to Middle Control​

Lumix cameras connect over wired LAN. Box cameras (BGH1, BS1H, AW-UB) have a built-in Ethernet port; mirrorless bodies use a USB-to-Ethernet adapter in tether mode.

Set up the camera first​

On the camera, before pairing:

  1. If the camera was previously paired to other software, go to Setup → Settings → Reset and run Reset Network Settings — a Lumix keeps only one pairing at a time.
  2. Go to Setup → IN/OUT → LAN / Wi-Fi Setup → IP Address Setting (LAN), choose DHCP Client, and restart the camera.
  3. On bodies without a built-in LAN port, connect a USB-to-Ethernet adapter and set Setup → IN/OUT → USB to Tether (USB Ethernet Adaptor).
  4. Connect the camera to the same network as your computer with an Ethernet cable.

How to Connect your Camera​

  1. The camera appears automatically in the left sidebar under Scanned — click + to add it. If it doesn't show up, add it manually by IP address.
  2. Pairing is automatic — no username, password, or on-camera confirmation. Middle Control registers itself with the camera and remembers the pairing across restarts.
  3. Click the camera in the sidebar and assign a Camera ID.

Controlling your Camera​

Select the camera's ID on the Camera Page to drive exposure, focus, recording, and monitoring, with Live View streamed straight into Middle Control. The exact settings depend on the model — see the compatibility page.

Quick Troubleshooting​

  • The camera refuses to pair — it's likely still holding a pairing with other software. Run Reset Network Settings on the camera and add it again.
  • No camera in the Scanned list — check the camera is in LAN mode with DHCP and on the same subnet as your computer, then add it manually by IP.
