Middle Control Download
Download the main Middle Control application for macOS or Windows.
The Middle Control app is free to use. On macOS, certain advanced features can be unlocked with a Pro license — see the section below for an overview of Pro features and how to upgrade: → Middle Control 3 Pro
Starting with version 3.1.0, the macOS app is distributed directly from our website rather than through the Mac App Store.
Read more — why we changed, and how to migrate
This change will allow you to:
- Perform downgrades and rollbacks to previous versions
- Benefit from our greater control over integrations & SDK (for example, Live View support for Sony FX6, Z200, and FR7 relies on a library that cannot be distributed via the Mac App Store)
- Support Macs without an Apple ID signed in
⚠️ To migrate to 3.1.0 and above:
- Delete the Mac App Store version from your Applications folder
- Download and install the new Middle Control app from our website to your Applications directory
- Active licenses and ongoing trials transfer automatically — no extra steps needed.

Firmware Update
Updating the APC-R & APC-R Mini
Starting in May 2025, we’ve released a new standalone update app called Middle Updater, separate from Middle Control. This new updater offers improved update reliability and significantly enhances control over the various chips built into the APC-R and APC-R Mini. As a result, we can introduce more features without changing the existing hardware.
Download the Middle Updater:
To update your APC-R, APC-R Mini, or APC-R Mini Lite, follow these steps:
- Install the Middle Updater.
- Run the Middle Updater. You may need to allow the app to Open Anyway in your Mac's Privacy & Security settings.
- Make sure the Middle Control software is closed.
- Connect your APC-R and press Connect. The updater will check online for a new firmware version.
- If your unit does not show up and you don't see the message "✅ APC-R Detected", connect the unit directly with a USB cable (no USB hub or dongle) — or try a different USB cable.
- Run the update by clicking Start Update.
The update may take up to 5 minutes if all components require updating. If it hangs for longer than 5 minutes, disconnect the APC-R, close and restart the Middle Updater, and try again.
Updating the Middle Remote
To update the Middle Remote, just download and install the latest version of Glue Software . Start Glue, connect your Middle Remote to your laptop and its firmware will be automatically updated if an update is available.
How to upgrade to Middle Control 3 Pro
After a 30-day free trial — which you can start directly within the macOS Middle Control app — you can purchase a license on our website. You will not be automatically charged when the trial ends.
If you choose not to subscribe to a Pro license, the application will automatically revert to the standard (free) version of Middle Control at the end of the trial period.
⚠️ Note: Your license is valid for version 3 and doesn't include major app updates (such as Middle Control 4.0), but we've got plenty of new 3.x features on the way.
Please note that the Middle Control Pro License cannot be refunded if it has been activated in the software. All purchases are final if activated
The license can be used on up to 2 devices simultaneously. If you activate a third device, it will automatically deactivate the first registered device, etc.
